Who Is Eligible?

Passengers that hold tickets with long connections times greater than 8 hours but less than 24 hours in Kigali Airport are eligible to apply for the stopover offer.

Passenger must hold a validated RwandAir ticket (459 documents).

How To Apply?

At least 48hours prior to the first departure, customers or sales office can send their ticket information to the following email address: stpc@rwandair.com

Passengers will receive hotel reservation information and procedure to follow when they arrive at Kigali international airport.

What Does it Offer?

Economy Class Passengers: 1x night hotel stay at one of RwandAir partner hotels.

Business Class Passengers: 2x nights hotel stay at one of RwandAir partner hotels.

* $100 surcharge is embedded in the fare.

Terms and conditions


Customers with extended connecting times in Kigali International Airport (KGL) are eligible to make use of the stopover under the following terms and conditions:

  • Stopover is available to customers holding a return RwandAir ticket (issued on a RwandAir ticket stock starting with 459). The stopover can be used outbound and on the return leg of their trip.
  • Stopover in Kigali is only available for passengers connecting from Kigali Airport (KGL) departure and return flights must be via Kigali.
  • The stopover benefit is available to customers who have a minimum of 8 hours to 24 hours connecting time to their next flight.
  • The stopover service provides a maximum of 1-night accommodation to economy class passengers and 2 nights’ accommodation to business class passengers. Transport from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport will be provided and organized with the contracted hotel.
  • The hotel voucher does not include any alcoholic beverages or laundry services; passengers will bare all the costs if they decide to consume these products as services.
  • The hotel options provided are subject to the availability of RwandAir contracted hotels.
  • Passengers must email stpc@rwandair.com at least 48 hours prior to their departure, to receive their hotel voucher prior to departure. Passenger can also receive their hotel vouchers at the airport on arrival but must expect delays in hotel arrangements and transportation to the airport.
  • Visa fees, travel costs around the city, and any additional tours will be borne by the passenger. Any additional costs will be the passenger’s responsibility. Note: Citizens of countries members to the following international organizations; African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie get visa upon arrival and are waived visa fees for a visit of 30 days.
  • Stopover offer is not available for free tickets (R and Z classes).
  • RwandAir Dreammiles award (Miles) ticket are eligible for stopover.
  • Please note that the hotel voucher and boarding pass must be presented to the hotel upon check-in.
  • The hotel voucher cannot be changed after it has been issued by the system.
  • It is the responsibility of passengers to fulfill the entry requirements and requirements to Rwanda. Passengers are responsible for all visa/passport and regulatory obligations.
  • RwandAir is not responsible for any changes, errors or inaccuracies in the information provided.
  • RwandAir reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of Stopover in Kigali.

Terms and conditions


  • Offer available for transit passengers booking for their transit flights travelling until 31st December 2023, excluding the EID Holidays and Blackout dates. All travel must be completed by 31st December 2023.
  • The offer is also subject to room availability at the time of booking.

  • Qatar Stopover is available to book up to 72 hours before the check-in date.
  • Bookings can be cancelled any time up to 72 hours before the day of arrival. Refunds may take up to 1 month from the date of request.
  • Voluntary changes can be accepted one time only without an amendment fee.
  • In case of visa rejections, bookings stand confirmed and are non-amendable and non refundable.

  • Is the program linked to any other loyalty program of any other airline?

    Rwandair Loyalty Program has collaborated with the Privilege Club for Qatar Airways and members earn and burn miles for flying from both Airlines with the choice of your program

  • Is the redemption/ award ticket process tedious?

    You can redeem your miles online by simply logging into the RwandAir website, should you need to redeem through our offices Award tickets MUST be requested at least 3 working days before the flight. A form is available at all our sales offices to request for the ticket and it will be issued at the office you have applied for it. You can also request through email to the Customer Loyalty team by sending an email to dreammiles@rwandair.com. The award ticket is also subject to flight and seat availability.

  • Who are the partner members of the program?

    We will be announcing the members in due course, but we are looking to partner with hotels, banks, mobile operators, car rentals, etc.

  • Are there conditions governing the earning of miles on traveled sectors?

    The number of miles earned per flight will depend on the fare class, class of service traveled, tier status in the program, and the sector flown. All fare classes are eligible for earning miles. However, promotional fares attract less miles.

  • What are the tier benefits?

    There are more Benefits, such as bonus miles, extra baggage, priority check-in, priority boarding, baggage handling, and lounge access. Benefits varies depending on the tier level.

  • Does Program membership expire?

    Membership does not expire for Dream Miles members; however, tiers do expire in a period of one year (Silver, Gold and Diamond) in case one is not able to maintain the miles required or sectors for the specific tier level.

  • Do miles expire?

    Yes, they do. Miles expire after 2 years on a FIFO basis (First in first out).

    Miles expire every two years if not redeemed/used. However, an option is available to extend them before the expiry date or reinstate the expired miles within 6 months from the expiry date.

    • Once extended or reinstated Miles will only be valid for an additional 6 months added to the original Miles Expiry Date;
    • Miles to Expire and Expired miles can only be extended and reinstated once;
    • Only the exact Miles that last expired can be reinstated;
    • Expired Miles can only be reinstated within six (6) months after expiry;
    • Extended or Reinstated Miles do not count towards Miles to Tier (MTT).

  • Are kids eligible to join the program?

    Yes Dream Miles Junior is for members between the ages of 2 to 16 years. Members at this level can earn and redeem miles on the program among other activities.

  • By completing the enrolment form do I immediately start benefiting from the program?

    All new members remain prospects until they activate their membership by taking the first flight after enrolling in the program.

  • How far back can I claim miles after joining the program?

    Miles for flights taken on RwandAir within one calendar year before the enrollment date can be claimed. While completing the membership form, customers will be expected to list their ticket numbers and/or present their boarding passes along with the completed membership form.

  • How do I go about making retro claims?

    Via member website, or by email to the Customer loyalty department on dreammiles@rwandair.com

  • Can I redeem miles to upgrade to a higher class of travel?

    Yes. Members must first purchase a revenue ticket (not a promotion ticket) before they are allowed to redeem miles for an upgrade.

  • When I register, can I include the ticket number I have bought for other people?

    Once registered, please log into your Dream Miles member account and claim miles for any flight you have taken with RwandAir for a period of one year before your enrolment date. However, tickets bought for others will not earn you miles on your account but you can refer the others to join the program and earn miles for referring them to the program. You may also enroll for a family account or corporate account for your family and company employees tickets to earn miles and redeem from one account.
